Encelium To Introduce Polaris 3 at Lightfair International 2011

Encelium Technologies’ Energy Control System has set an industry standard, and that standard will now venture into the next generation with the introduction of Polaris 3, a web-based lighting control software application. It will be unveiled for the first time on May 17 with a formal introduction at a 5 p.m. reception at the Encelium booth (#2511) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, site of Lightfair International 2011.

“We will be showcasing this new technology at Lightfair 2011,” said Terry Mocherniak, chief operating officer of Encelium Technologies. “Lightfair is the world’s largest annual commercial lighting trade show and is the ideal venue to launch this ground breaking technology to the marketplace.”

With Polaris 3, facility managers will be able to view and navigate through a facility in a single three-dimensional, multi-floor view, permitting faster and easier navigation. “Users will no longer have to navigate through single floors, or a ‘tree architecture,’ to get to control lighting in their facility,” said Mocherniak. “Now, they will be able to view the entire facility in a single 3D ’snapshot.’”

Utilizing Microsoft’s Silverlight technology, Polaris 3 will permit access to the system via a simple web browser, eliminating the need for software installation, resulting in faster set-up and start times, and easier integration with other web-based building control systems. Polaris 3 also provides a colorized thermo-graphic representation of system parameters for lighting status, power consumption, light levels; occupancy status; load shedding status; and comparative energy trends.

“As a result, users will be able to identify lighting related inefficiency trends or operational anomalies anywhere in the facility,” Mocherniak said. “Such non-lighting parameters as temperature, CO2 levels, and air quality can also be represented in this thermo-graphic view, if the system is integrated with a building automation system.”

The launch of Polaris 3 follows Encelium’s recent introduction of its CarbonWatch energy dashboard software application. Working with the company’s ECS system, CarbonWatch continuously displays a building’s energy performance and carbon footprint reduction in a slide-show format. Designed for public information displays in building common areas, it can also be installed in interactive information kiosks.

In addition to its Teaneck NJ headquarters, Encelium has more than 70 employees and operations in Canada and Europe. The company has experienced tremendous growth, posting nearly a 100-percent annual sales increase during the last two years.
